Change is Here…and So is Rent-Control

The Metro K-Line is officially open!

Soon there will be 124 more apartments (studio, 1 and 2 bedrooms) including 14 very low-income units, 60 parking spaces and retail at 4242 Crenshaw, a short walk to the K-Line.  A Streamline Moderne apartment is coming Crenshaw and 43rd across the street from McDonalds.  The Streamline Moderne complex will house 54 studio apartments above retail space.  While there is no parking for this complex, there will be a few spaces designated for the retail establishments.

It is important to remember that the majority of Leimert Park’s multi-unit buildings are Rent-Controlled. Landlords can only increase your rent based on the Los Angeles Rent Stabilization Ordinance which is favorable to renters. Leimert Park’s existing apartment homes have good living space, parking, architectural character and neighbors share a strong sense of community. Many multi-generational families have grown up in our neighborhood and are an important part of Leimert Park. Remember, as long as rent has been paid, they can’t kick you out!

Leimert Park deserves all the good things that are happening. Let’s maintain and protect what we’ve built for ourselves and future generations.
